7/27/2023 0 Comments Watercolor winter landscape![]() Let this layer completely dry before moving on to our last step. While the snow on our roof dries, take your small detail brush and blue-gray paint mixture to add in the reflection of the trees all around the cabin’s reflection. This will give the roof the appearance of snow. Once your rows of trees have dried, fill up your cabin’s roof with clean water, then tap in the light Blue-Gray paint mixture to the outer edges of the roof. Repeat this step until the trees reach the top of the painting. This step is pretty easy! All we have to do is take our Blue-Gray paint mixture ( using an even amount of water and paint) and tap in our ever-green tree shapes along the horizon line.Īfter the first row of trees is in place, add water to your paint mixture to lighten the paint color then add another row of trees behind the row we just put in place. This step is one of my favorites because I think it just pulls this picture together and really gives it depth! Repeat this step with the cabin reflection as well. While the snow dries, we can take our small detail brush and paint in the cabin windows with the Alzarian Crimson paint. Start by filling the entire area around the cabin with clean water, then begin tapping in the Light Blue-Gray paint mixture all around the base of the cabin, and in random areas around the surrounded ground area. The snow around the cabin is going to be the Blue-Gray paint mixture watered down A LOT! Let’s paint in the snow around our cabin and fill in those windows. Let the cabin completely dry before moving on. Grab your small detail brush and dip it into your Burnt Umber paint mixture, and apply it to the base of both of our cabin sketches. Now that we have our sketch in place we can begin painting! This will be the reflection in the water. I left about an inch and a half of space between the first and second cabin. Repeat this same process right underneath the cabin. Lastly, for this sketch, all we are going to do is add two little square windows peeking out underneath the main section of the roof. Next, draw a little rectangle underneath your roof, and a tall rectangle under the side view of the roof. ![]() Then create a triangle with the right side of the roof you just drew in and a new line for the far right side of the roof. Then add to angled lines going downward to create the edges of the roof. Start with a short line for the top of the roof. Step 1:īefore we can start painting we first need to draw out our winter cabin. I highly recommend this product to you if you are looking for a beginner set of paints.
